PTFE Products

molded-ptfePolytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) also known as Teflon® is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. Invented by DuPont, PTFE can be modified and shaped for use as a gasketing material with strong chemical resistance properties.

Advantages of using PTFE include:

  • Not affected to most chemicals.
  • Can be used at temperatures up to 500°F (260°C).
  • The lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material.

Seal & Design offers PFTE Gasket materials from producers such as Inertex® and Garlock® GYLON® as well as PTFE O-Rings.

Spiral Wound Gaskets in the Power Generation Industry

PowerGen
In today’s changing landscape, there are more options than ever in the power generation industry; from natural gas, fossil fuels, coal, and nuclear to renewable methods such as hydroelectric, wind, solar, and biomass.

To withstand the extreme temperatures and conditions of these applications, manufacturers depend on durable gaskets and sealing solutions.

The gaskets used throughout these plants must be able to handle a range of operating conditions and pressures in order to evenly distribute power across long distances.

Reliable gasket solutions allow companies to easily meet the needs of the communities they serve while staying ahead of the curve in power generation trends.

Spiralwound Gaskets: High-Performance Technology

seals-metallicSeal & Design’s Spiral Wound Gaskets (SWG) are manufactured according to ASME B16.20 standards with quality assurance to comply with API specifications Q1 and ISO 9001:2008.

These gaskets are crafted with a combination of various smart materials: a preformed metal strip alternates with a more compressible, soft filler material, allowing for a highly responsive and extremely tight seal.

Get to know Seal & Design: Ken Nyitrai – Quality Manager

In this installment we sit down with Seal & Design Quality Manager Ken Nyitrai.
Ken-Quality-Manager

Q: What’s your role at S&D?
A:
I’m the Quality Assurance Manager. I oversee the quality department between all our divisions. My department’s job is to make sure that the raw materials coming in and finished parts going out are good. I also strive to make sure our company is continuously improving and to make sure we are utilizing best practices and meet all ISO and TS 16949 industry standards.

Q: What’s interesting about your job?
A: My job is fast paced and I find that interesting. I get to interact with all the departments and interface with our vendors when any issues occur.  It’s also challenging (and rewarding) to come up with new ways to tweak our already efficient processes to make sure we are continuously improving the company, all while providing high quality products to our customers.

Q: How do you “make it happen”?
A:
I’m at the office at 6:30 most every day. I’m usually busy hopping around the plant overseeing my department and looking for ways to improve our quality processes.

Q: What’s your favorite Seal & Design product?
A:
If I had to say anything I’d say PORON XRD is a fairly interesting product. It’s soft, yet firm at the same time, used as shock protection in sporting equipment, yet suitable for use in commercial applications.  We rarely have any complaints about our PORON family of products because it’s of high quality. And we love high quality products in my department!
