New DOSS O-Ring Inspection Machine

Seal & Design’s new O-Ring vision inspection machine is state of the art!  It’s fully equipped with low energy consumption illumination powered by LED stroboscopic technology, two high definition cameras, plus a 360° camera that inspects the entire periphery of the part and a laser to check part thickness or flatness.

 

The O-Ring vision inspection machine is capable of inspecting parts up to 60mm diameter with a maximum height of 15mm and can obtain inspection speeds up to 10pcs/sec.  This inspection system uses 33% less power and has the potential to increase our run efficiencies by 25%.

Material Splitting

At Seal & Design, we have the unique capability to split master rolls of material into custom thickness at high tolerances. This makes us extremely competitive in weather stripping, insulation, and other sponge/foam applications. Material splitting is an excellent complement to our lamination and gasket fabrication capabilities.

Waterjet Cutting

Waterjet cutting machines are a popular tool used to cut a wide variety of materials.

These machines use a very high-pressure jet of water, or a mixture of water and some abrasive substances, in order to cut through materials like granite, metal, rubber, and wood. Waterjet cutting machines suit numerous applications and can assist in the high production of materials that are too delicate for other cutting processes.

There are many more advantages of waterjet cut gaskets and parts:

  • Quick prototypes
  • Avoid tool costs, which can be significant for large parts
  • Intricate parts with thin walls can be easily accommodated
  • Multiple parts of the same material can be run at the same time, resulting in maximum material utilization, labor efficiencies, and reduced costs
  • Can cut materials up to 6″ thick
  • High-pressure water produces extremely perpendicular cut edges with virtually no concavity

Prototyping Tools

At Seal & Design, we offer our waterjet cutting machine capabilities as a prototyping tool, allowing you to create samples and production parts before fully investing in a product. Using industry standard *.dxf files, we can import customer supplied drawings directly into our nesting software and be ready for production within minutes.

O-Ring Inspection Equipment

In many critical applications (including automotive, aerospace, and life support, among others), 100% dimensional inspection of o-rings is often required. Seal & Design has a host of inspection machines that are dedicated to 100% inspection of o-rings and other seals, to ensure each individual part meets all drawing dimensions and other measurable specifications.

Also called vision systems, these machines use camera stations with either infrared or white light to measure any particular dimension of an o-ring that is deemed to be critical to function. From ID and OD to concentricity and ovality, our equipment measures and sorts parts quickly and efficiently. Seal & Design is home to a variety of inspection equipment, from machines dedicated specifically to o-rings and round parts, to machines that can measure virtually any shape.

Inspection RoomTo prevent any cross-contamination of the 100% inspected parts, bagging machines are attached directly to the inspection equipment. This allows for precise automatic bagging/sealing of parts, with customer required information including part numbers, quantities, and batch information printed directly onto the bags. From start to finish, the time it takes to inspect and bag an o-ring is often less than 10 seconds.

Custom Packaging & Labeling Capabilities

Seal & Design Inc. offers extensive packaging and labeling services for supplies, whether you have delicate parts, high volume needs, or complicated labeling requirements. Out packaging capabilities allow us to expertly kit, package, and label a wide variety of products:

 

  • Individually bagged parts with custom, thermal printed information on the label portion of the packaging.

    Printing can include your company logo, bar codes, or other information that you choose. This is a great option for retail products, such as resales of our parts in service applications.

  • Packaging produced in parts in customer supplied boxes or packaging.

  • Bulk packaging in reusable containers.

  • We can custom kit a group of your parts made by us, others, or any combination in between.

Planar Inspection Machine

Our Quality Assurance department’s Planar inspection machine is the world’s fastest two dimensional measurement system!

In less than 0.1 of a second, Planar can measure millions of points.  These measurements are then overlaid on the parts DXF/DWG file to generate a deviation map and full set of inspection reports in less than 20 seconds!

The Planar system has no moving parts to recalibrate or wear out and therefore, offers consistent accuracy and high reliability.  A single very high resolution camera, which scans parts placed on a backlit glass surface, is used to acquire millions of measurements across the entire table in a fraction of a second.

The Planar can be used for inspection and reverse engineering of flat opaque and semi-transparent parts from a wide variety of materials such as metals, rubber, polymers, cloth, wood, cork, cardboard, paper, carbon/glass fiber reinforced plastics and more.

Materials measured may have been punched, laser, plasma, water jet or knife cut or even hand cut. The systems can measure multiple parts simultaneously and can also measure o-rings with a single click of a button.

The Planar Inspection systems has proved to be a great addition to our QA inspection lab and will be in service for many more years to come.
