Chemraz 504 for Low Pressure Valves

Seal & Design was recently contacted by an OEM valve manufacturer that was experiencing leakage in their low pressure rated valves.  They needed a soft material that had a very broad chemical resistance.  The customer tested Chemraz 504, and it successfully passed their bubble test.

Chemraz 504 has a 65 durometer hardness which makes it ideal for low pressure applications.  The valve manufacturer now specifies Chemra 504 for all seat applications, and Chemraz 505 for their static seals.

Low Temperature Viton O-Ring Materal

V91A is the first low-temperature, explosive decompression resistant, viton o-ring material of its kind that is cable of retaining its elastomeric properties at temperatures as low as -51°F (-46°C). This revolutionary viton o-ring material allows engineers to extend the effective limit of their equipment in low temperture applications where vition o-rings are required due to the chemical environment.  Low temperature performance of viton o-rings is becoming more important with the commercialization of oil fields in cold locations, such as in Alaska, the North Sea and Russia. Traditionally, viton o-rings have not been recommended for low temperature dynamic applications below -22°F (-30°C).  This is due to the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of most low temperature ED resistant viton elastomer formulations. O-ring and Molded Products Inspection Machine

Seal & Design is excited to O-Ring Inspection Machine announce its latest equipment acquisition: Another state-of-the-art Inspection Machine.

This piece of equipment adds to Seal and Design’s existing quality arsenal of high end inspection equipment. This equipment allows for the rapid, automated, inspection of o-rings and other molded rubber and plastic products.

Standard inspection machines can only inspect round parts. Our new equipment can inspect virtually any shape. The cameras in this vision system can check concentricity, ovality, and flash, as well as looking for inclusions and other defects. A laser check can also inspect for planarity and thickness. Molded o-rings and seals are then sorted into distinct compartments and a full statistical analysis is generated.

Seal & Design has the capability of 100% inspect of almost any molded seal. This is often required in automotive or aerospace applications, where dimensional certification is required. Visit our website to learn more about Seal & Design’s capabilities at
