ISO/TS16949:2009 CERTIFICATION

NSF

Seal & Design has successfully passed our ISO/TS16949:2009 re-certification audit!!! The objectives of this audit are to assess the adequacy, effectiveness & conformance of our quality management system, by assuring that our organization adheres to its policies & procedures, conforms with the requirements of the standard/technical specification and is effectively achieving its own objectives.

This certification audit was performed by NSF International and is geared to the automotive industry. This accomplishment continues to allow Seal & Design to grow and be recognized as a world class supplier of gaskets, seals, and o-rings. Seal & Design is the industry leader in challenging sealing solutions, and is the leader on the latest material developments in Viton®, Aflas®, Chemraz®, Simriz®, and other next generation elastomers.

Poron Page Update

PoronSeal & Design has recently updated our Poron page to include PDF data sheets for the most common Poron materials available today.

Poron is a microcellular urethane foam with extremely low compression set. These high density, flexible cellular products are manufactured by continuously casting and curing mechanically frothed urethane intermediates to the desired thickness. By controlling chemistry and density, the properties of Poron materials can be widely varied.

PORON®XRD™ is a breakthrough technology that has been tested to absorb up to 90 percent of energy when impacted at high strain rates. The extreme impact protection is ideal for use in sporting goods and other outdoor industry products.

Chemraz 504 for Low Pressure Valves

Safety Valve

Seal & Design was recently contacted by an OEM valve manufacturer that was experiencing leakage in their low pressure rated valves.  They needed a soft material that had a very broad chemical resistance.  The customer tested Chemraz 504, and it successfully passed their bubble test.

Chemraz 504 has a 65 durometer hardness which makes it ideal for low pressure applications.  The valve manufacturer now specifies Chemra 504 for all seat applications, and Chemraz 505 for their static seals.

Chemraz Page Update

Chemraz O-Rings

Seal & Design has recently updated our Chemraz o-ring page on our website to include the majority of compounds currently available in the market place. Our goal is to become a one-stop shop for information about Chemraz O-Rings, or any of your other seal needs. We have included PDF’s for each Chemraz compound so the physical properties can be viewed, and downloaded at your convenience. Visit our Chemraz O-Ring page for more information.

Chemraz combines the resilience and sealing force of an elastomer with chemical resistance approaching that of PTFE. Chemraz solves some of the most difficult sealing problems in natural gas power generators and truck diesel engines while offering outstanding in-use cost effectiveness through reductions in warranty claims and down time. Chemraz resists attack by nearly all chemical reagents, including inorganic and organic acids, alkalines, ketones, esters, aldehydes, alcohols and fuels. As a result Chemraz provides long-term service in virtually all applications where operating temperatures are elevated and reduced emission requirements are paramount.

Contact Seal & Design today for more information about Chemraz and other o-ring materials.

Seal & Design now offers a -51°F Viton O-ring Material

Need an O-ring for low temperature applications? Viton V91A can help!

Low Temperature Viton O-Ring Materal

V91A is the first low-temperature, explosive decompression resistant, viton o-ring material of its kind that is cable of retaining its elastomeric properties at temperatures as low as -51°F (-46°C). This revolutionary viton o-ring material allows engineers to extend the effective limit of their equipment in low temperture applications where vition o-rings are required due to the chemical environment.  Low temperature performance of viton o-rings is becoming more important with the commercialization of oil fields in cold locations, such as in Alaska, the North Sea and Russia. Traditionally, viton o-rings have not been recommended for low temperature dynamic applications below -22°F (-30°C).  This is due to the Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of most low temperature ED resistant viton elastomer formulations. See this and more viton products on our viton o-rings page.

New Viton O-Rings & Viton Gasket Pages

Seal & Design has recently updated our viton gasket and viton o-ring pages on our website to include the majority of compounds currently available in the market place. Our goal is to become a one-stop shop for information about Viton O-Rings, Viton Gaskets, and Viton Compounds. We have included PDF’s for each Viton elastomer so the physical properties can be viewed, and downloaded at your convenience.
